Based on a hit stage play of the same name, The Bat has been a hit since its 1926 debut. The police trail a master jewel thief that's always one-step ahead, leaving them notes signed as The Bat. A group of friends staying at an old, dark house become the next targets of the thief as he hides out in the country. Comedy blends with the ominous mood in this remarkable film that went on to inspire the Batman comics! Organ music by Marvin Faulwell and percussion by Bob Keckeisen bring this classic film to life with an original score they've prepared.

You will also see the following short films:

The Pumpkin Race (1908)
Alice's Spooky Adventure (1924)
The Merry Widower (1926)

Silents in the Cathedral has been an annual community event for 28 years. The library partners with the Kansas Silent Film Festival, Inc. and Grace Episcopal Cathedral to put on this event.
