Menninger Room 206, Virtual Room 02In this program, we will explore how to navigate the extensive immigration and naturalization collections records both online and in the Passenger Lists.
We will explore the series of Passenger Lists to uncover "Declarations of Intention" (First Papers) and "Petitions for Naturalization," which often contain specific birthplaces, vessel names, and family witness signatures. We will explain how to use the Passenger and Immigration Lists Index books that we have available in the Topeka Room and demonstrate how a single record found can unlock generations of history.
