Kathryn Viggalis explores the history of arranged marriages to immigrant picture brides and the role marriage played as a cultural and legal institution in the United States between 1900 and 1950.
Viggalis will also share the stories of Greek immigrant picture brides in her own family. This program "Ellis Island Weddings: Love, Marriage and Citizenship in Early 20th Century America" is sponsored by the Humanities Kansas Speakers Bureau.
